He attended the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs where he graduated with honors with his Masters of Nursing in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care in 2020. He practiced for 4 years in the sub-acute/primary care settings and he found a passion in focusing on mental health issues. With the support of his wife, he enrolled at Chamberlain University and completed his post-graduate program with honors and is now a dual board-certified nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AGPCNP) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (PMHNP). He finds true pride in being registered nurse and applying the nursing framework in clinical practice. Why focus on mental health? "We all have had experience with anxiety, depressive feelings, or trauma and every experience is different and should be treated as such. I have spent years in talk therapy, which I attribute to my success and improved mental health today. I have been on both sides of the coin concerning mental health struggles and want to spend my career helping others come out on the other side in a safe and patient-centered environment. I do not simply aim to medicate someone but to fully understand the underlying issue and treat that issue with the understanding, patience, and empathy each patient deserves. I also believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. Untreated mental health symptoms can often turn into physical manifestations and understanding that pathology is very important to improve patient outcomes." Philosophy of Practice: "I believe the most important thing a provider should know is what they don't know. I believe a provider can have every textbook in the world memorized, but will never know a patient better than they know themself. I believe the patient is my best source of information. I believe in ethical practice, the human experience, building relationships with trust, clear communication, and education to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes. I believe in the patient being active in the decision-making process. I am happy to include supplements or herbal remedies in building a patient specific treatment. Western medicine does not have all the answers and if something else helps my patients find relief from their suffering, I am 100% happy to include that therapy." Outside of the office, his interests include spending time with his pups and his wife, landscape photography, international travel, golf, and Dodgers baseball. “Keenan's hands down the best I’ve come across this far. Their isn’t eight words to describe his character and disposition. He was intelligent, caring, knowledgeable on subjects not related to western medicine, empathetic, and more than that extremely competent”
